S/V Marissa Update From Uncle Bob
Hello again to you all. Just a short update this time. At 2:50 pm, local time, Marissa has arrived at the Malecon Turistica, or Marina Baja Naval De Ensenada, BC. Hopefully the officials they need to see are nearby, still at their desks, and all will be smooth for their check-in to Mexico.
Big Congratulations to Shannon and Mike on completing your first overnight sail and very first Foreign Port entry. Enjoy your rest.

S/V Marissa Update From Uncle Bob
Hello to you all again,
About noon today, according to online tracking sites, Marissa was just a few miles North of the two Todos Santos islands. Marissa made a left turn and set a course more directly Eastward, toward the harbor of Ensenada. The Todos Santos islands are a little over 7 miles due West of the harbor channel entrance. The local wind has picked up to around 5 knots, but they are now heading almost directly into the wind now, so that may slow their approximately 3 knot progress some. In any case, within three or four hours they should be within the well protected harbor, and either anchoring or more likely, settling in at one of the many yacht marinas there.
It is hard for me to accept, but it has been over 40 years since I sailed my beloved yawl Bolero into Ensenada back in a cold December of 1978. So a HUGE amount has changed there over these 41 or so years. I have no idea what the current port entry or check-in procedures are now, so I just did an online search. One of the first hits I came across was from a couple who sailed their Newport 30 sailboat down to Ensenada from San Diego, just a few years ago, in January of 2018. At the time of the article and cruising blog, they kept the sailboat in la Pas. I found their step-by-step description of entering and check-in procedures quite detailed and informative. Here is a link to the site I found, some of you may also find it interesting to see what Shannon and Mike are likely to face on port arrival either later today or tomorrow morning. http://www.captaincurran.com/…/securing-our-mexican… I hope Mike and Shannon have also found and read this article, or something similar, to prepare them for the official formalities that lie ahead. Of course it is possible, that the procedures have changed since 2018, but likely not too much. Requesting current local advice and assistance is always a good idea.
Regards,
