New Transmission!

Transmission arrived!

March 5, 10:45 PM

Wow, we received the new transmission today! It arrived about 2:00pm and I went right to work on it. I spent about 8 hours down inside “The Hole”, as I call it. Yes, there was some bad language and some small amount of crying, especially when I hit my head on that dang water pipe elbow for the 100th time. Man, you would think I would realize that thing is there; errrrr, but feeling pretty good about things. Transmission is in and looking great. I just have some small fine tuning to do in the morning to get everything lined up just right. The trans and motor and the drive shaft have to be perfectly lined up or it will put pressure on the bearings and we don’t need that. I feel like we’re way over the hump and should be rolling out of here soon. Looking forward to heading north, up the Sea of Cortez and getting some good times in and back on the hook (that’s anchor down and free). Spear fishing is calling me and I’m so ready to get out of here 😎. Yeah, it’s been a nice place to be, but not my cup of tea. I’d rather be on the hook exploring new things. Well stay tuned; Marissa is about to set sail!

All Systems are go!!!!

Boat feels great and we will be back under way. Taking the day off tomorrow and just going to lay at the pool.

That may have been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done. Many times I was beat and ready to throw in the towel, but what are you going to do when it’s your house on water? You just keep plugging away and keep moving forward. The job itself isn’t so hard; it’s the old bolts frozen and all rusted out, and the tight places you just can’t get to easily.

Wow victory feels good though. Leaving Monday morning for some new adventure…
